Der multidisziplinäre internationale Charakter des Büros stammt von der Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedensten Künstlern und Designern in einer sich immer neu entwickelnden kollaborativen Praxis und den Niederlassungen in München und New York.
Neben der digitalen Entwurfsforschung und der Materialentwicklung baut YES Hotels, Einkaufzentren und ein Kongresszentrum neben vielen unterschiedlichen Projekten im Retail- und Gastronomiebereich.

Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Ruth Berktold and her team operate internationally in the field of design and architecture. YES is headquartered in Munich, Germany and has a satellite office in New York, USA. YES architecture. was established in 2002 and the work of YES includes architecture, urban planning, interior design, furniture, products, virtual spaces and web design. The projects are generally multi-disciplinary in nature, and are in various countries. YES also strives to work with new design tools and strategies including innovative digital and production methods.
Our multi disiplinary approach to complicated design challenges extends from conception to construction, and with a focus on integrative approach in our projects.
YES ARCHITECTURE provides consultation for clients seeking specialized information, or guidance in design, construction or management. This extends to building code, sustainability, and BIM services.
YES ARCHITECTURE works closely with clients in the planning, control and coordination of projects from conception until completion.
YES ARCHITECTURE conducts feasibility studies, investigating and evaluating the potential of sites and buildings, and the possible constraints and opportunities of prospective projects.
Prof. Ruth Berktold has been teaching at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich since Sept. 2002. Her field of research is Architectural Design and the Conceptual Approach to Computer integrated Design. She teaches Bachelor and Master level. She also is the principal of the Munich-New York based office YES architecture.
She lived in New York from Mai 1994 to Mai 2002. Before starting YES architecture, she worked for Behnisch and Partner, Stuttgart, Prof. Eisele und Fritz, Darmstadt, Bernard Tschumi, Jim Polshek and Asymptote, New York, and dealt with projects of different scales and designed international competitions for clients such as Daimler Chrysler and BMW. During this time she was a professor for architectural design at RPI graduate school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY) and was teaching with Lise Anne Couture at Parsons School of Design, NY.
She has been an invited member of many juries at NTNU Trondheim, Norway, Columbia University, Yale Architecture School and other European universities. Since 2002 she has been a jury member for many architectural competitions in Germany and Austria.
In December 2004 Ruth Berktold and her former project partner were awarded the commission for the new UN-Campus in Bonn, a 200 mio. Euro structure named ‘WCCB – World Conference Center Bonn’. In 2015 the project ‘Meile Moosach’, a hotel and shopping center in Munich was completed.
Ruth Berktold is currently working on a new hotel, an apartment building, and multiple housing projects, retail structures and restaurants. She is a member of the Chamber of Bavarian Architects, RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects, BDA - Bund Deutscher Architekten and AIA - American Institute of Architects.
Prof. Ruth Berktold is an architect and urban planner and lives and works between Munich and New York.
